Lake Qunisigamond is a long, narrow body of water created during the last receding ice age. There are many such lakes throughout the Northern United States. To some visitors, these look like rivers at first glance. The bridge in the background is Rt. 9, once the major thoroughfare to Boston from Worcester for automobile traffic. The lake is also part of the border separating Shrewsbury from Worcester. Back in the middle of the last century (so weird saying that given that it's not really that long ago and, at least, some of the club members fondly will remember this), what is now White City Plaza used to be a major amusement park. Now, however, the lake has residences, a few beach areas, and lots of water craft. It's more commonly known as "Lake Qunisig".
